PGA TOUR STAR AND RICHMOND NATIVE, JOHN ROLLINS, DIRECTS SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO LOCAL VCU MASSEY CANCER CENTER
January 19, 2006
John Rollins, Richmond's own PGA TOUR star who played his
college golf at Virginia Commonwealth University, recently took advantage
of an opportunity to give back to a most worthwhile entity affiliated
with VCU: The Massey Cancer Center. Through a marketing program
of the PGA TOUR, The Crestor Challenge, players can designate beneficiaries
for contributions based upon set criteria for performance.
In September at the 2005 Deutsche
Bank Championship, John shot a sizzling 28 on the back nine for a final
score of 63 in the third round to vault into 1st place going
into the final round. Based upon that outstanding performance,
John had the opportunity to control a $10,000.00 donation to the charity
of his choice - he selected The Massey Cancer Center.
John noted: "It is truly rewarding to be able to help such a wonderful cause through playing
the game I love. Thanks to the PGA TOUR and Crestor for creating
and supporting such an innovative vehicle for the players to recognize
charities important to them."
