SMI News - Daniel Chopra, The # 1 Putter on the PGA Tour, signs with Sports Management International
December 28, 2006
PGA TOUR star Daniel Chopra has signed a representation agreement with Sports Management International (SMI), a sports management and marketing company located in Richmond, Virginia.
Dan enjoyed an outstanding 2006 PGA TOUR season, with 6 Top 10 finishes, the number 54 spot on the Final Money List, and a ranking of #1 in putting on TOUR. He also is a two-time winner on the PGA TOUR’s Nationwide Tour (2004).
Another example of Dan’s outstanding talent is exemplified by the unique World Record he holds in Golf for shooting 30 under par on a Par 72 course. Dan accomplished this feat in 2004 at the Henrico County Open (PGA TOUR’s Nationwide Tour).
While Dan plays a very full PGA TOUR schedule, he is truly an international player with roots both in his native Sweden, and in India where he was raised. His resume contains 9 international victories. Following the final PGA TOUR tournament each year, Dan plays in events all over the world.
David Maraghy, CEO of SMI, noted: “We are thrilled to have the privilege of working with Dan, who is one of the bright young players on the PGA TOUR. He not only possesses outstanding talent, but also is a wonderfully articulate personality who brings color to the TOUR…Dan naturally exudes the ‘X Factor’.”
Dan will head into the 2007 season representing Ping, Titleist Ball, Taylor Made, Kayne Anderson Capital and Robert Graham clothing.
SMI specializes in golf, representing other PGA TOUR players such as John Rollins, Omar Uresti and Wes Short, and also managing golf events around the world.
